Sunday night, 11pm – I just watched the Tony's – congratulations Book of Mormon! Now I'm going to work on lines for a scene in Act 3 that we will block in rehearsal tomorrow. Some of them are pretty easy, but a few of them I know I will have to say very quickly and I'm a little nervous about keeping them in my head. Learning lines is not my best subject and I’m really working the memorization skills with this rehearsal process. It’s a good thing.
Monday – just blocked a really fun scene with Victoria who plays Becky Blockhart. The cast laughed at us. That always makes me feel really good. I figure if I can make them laugh, I can probably make anyone laugh. I hope.
Tuesday – blocked a scene where I give Kent, playing Orrin Hatch, some Kool-Aid, uh, I mean tea. He said he liked it. :) Little does he know… Bwah ha ha! I’m onstage for about 30 seconds during that scene. Then I went off to the green room for more line learning. And blog writing. Woo hoo! Oh, also, some joking and some laughter occurred between a bunch of actors in the green room too. It really is a shame we don’t have very much fun together with this show. I feel bad for us. NOT!
Tomorrow – more blocking, more line learning, more laughter. More creating of this whacky show that is bringing me much, much joy.
Tuesday, June 28th – we begin performing the show for audiences. Hopefully bringing them much laughter and much joy too. I can’t wait!
I love my job. I love my fellow actors. I love every single person associated with creating this amazing work of Utah specific art. How lucky am I? Really a lot.
SATURDAY'S VOYEUR opens June 29 and runs throughout the summer. Tickets available online or by calling the Box Office: 801.363.7522.
