Well, here I am back for my third year (in a row, no less) of Voyeur. As always, it is a great privilege to be working at SLAC and doing this show. When I heard who my fellow cast mates were, I was very excited. I had worked with all but three, and already liked the ones I knew and had heard (or knew) good things about the ones I didn't.
In any case, I have been delighted by my fellow cast mates. All of them are very talented (and even more important to me) genuinely nice and easy to work with. I actually think this is a great cast.
The Voyeur rehearsal process is always an interesting one. Sometimes it's slow-going, but it's fun to develop and work on a new piece, and there's a lot of funny stuff in this one.
I was pleased to learn that I would be playing Gayle Ruzicka (or in our script, "Bazooka") again, and I have a nice number to the tune of Rick James' "Super Freak" that I think audiences will enjoy.
My favorite number, thus far (we haven't gotten Act 3 yet) is about Ralph Becker and dog walkers in Parley's Park set to the tune of Bruno Mars' "Grenade." Fun song with some funny choreography. I'm eager to see what is done with Cee Lo Green's "F**k You" as sung by Bob Bennett.
Oh, and Kelsie Jepsen as Carl Wimmer ("Dwimmer" in our script) is uproariously hilarious.
Favorite moments thus far:
Jacob Johnson's first verse in "The Creek" (especially "Bud you are so cute")
Austin Archer's introduction as Patrick Henry
Kent Harrison Hayes' "Wake up!" to Betsy Ross
Shannon Musgrave's cranky Betsy Ross
Kelsie Jepsen's "I smell kitty"
Holly Fower's Cat Lady's maniacal laughter when she bests her uppity neighbors
Alexis Baigue's Ralph Becker voice
Jeanette Puhich's "big dog" choreography in "The Creek"
Victoria Elena Nones' "When You're Good To Blockhart" number
John Rowland's ability to do all sorts of voices and impressions from Ronald Reagan to barking dogs to fireworks
Randall Eames' choreography both in "The Creek" and "For the Benefit of Mr. B" I'm sure I will also enjoy him in "I Smell Kitty"
