If You Give a Mouse a Cookie... | MOUSE Actor Dustin Bolt

Dustin_BoltWhere to begin?

If You Give A Mouse A Cookie
has been quite the challenge. Out of all the shows I've done over the last 2 years, this and Go, Dog. Go!, have been by far the hardest. Both of which were at SLAC. I've really had to push myself physically and with my acting.  I counted today 45 + bruises on my body that I can see. Stepping in and learning Voyeur in two weeks for the extension this year was a piece of cake. Bruises and all, I have to say...It has been totally worth it. I cannot tell you how excited I am to perform this show for a house full of children.

It's hard to imagine that only three weeks ago we were having our first read through of the script and to see where the show is today is really incredible. So much has evolved over the last few weeks. Working with Penny, Michael and the creative team has been a joy. One of my favorite moments came in rehearsal about the second week in. Now, I'm not complaining about how physical this show has been for me, I'm running up, down, and all over this set most of the show. It's been awesome to lose 8lbs. Anyway, at rehearsal we had just finished one the big moments in the show and as we were talking about it I hear Michael say "Crouching is hard" as he is crouching on the counter. I just looked at him with sweat dripping down my face. It's become the inside joke with all of us.

This truly has been a great experience so far and it'll only get better with an audience. I look forward to auditioning for and seeing what SLAC will do with their next Children's show. Thank you SLAC for this opportunity and for bringing professional theatre to young audiences.

IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE by Laura Joffe Numeroff & adapted for the stage by Jody Davidson, plays December 1-26.  Tickets available online or by calling the Box Office: 801.363.7522.
