SATURDAY'S VOYEUR '10- First week of rehearsal by actor Shannon Musgrave

I am thrilled to be back Voyeur-ing for another summer! There is absolutely nothing like the process of SATURDAY'S VOYEUR from an actor's stand-point. We don't see the script, we don't know what we'll be playing, we don't know what the show is until the first day of rehearsal. From there, it's a dead sprint to opening night. Learning songs, memorizing lines, researching news stories, blocking scenes, getting re-writes - it's a whirlwind of fast, furious, political, hilarious, creativity and it's a dream!

This year, VOYEUR celebrates 'The Year That Was,' and WHAT a year it was! The show starts in March of '09 and moves chronologically through the year, introducing characters pulled straight from the headlines. It's really interesting and fun to play characters that are based on real people in our community. I wonder if any of them will be in the audience??

With just one week of rehearsal down, we've seen two of the three acts that will make up this year's show. And I am telling you - DO NOT MISS IT! The script is hysterical and smart, the songs are exciting and eclectic, the cast is extraordinarily talented and ridiculously good-looking.

A piece of advice for you who will be joining us this summer: come educated. I'm going to help you do so. Google the following phrases and enjoy the absurd, quirky, outrageous, infuriating, hilarious news stories that inspired 'The Year That Was...'

  • Orrin Hatch Hanukkah Song
  • Jason Chaffetz airport security
  • Sarah Palin (anything that comes up when you type this in Google's search box is bound to be hilarious)
  • Blanding Utah pot diggers
  • Wife beats husband with hammer
  • Main street plaza kiss
  • Mike Noel Paria River
  • Kevin Garn hot tub

The list could go on and on, but this is a good start to get you riled up...

See you this summer!
