GO, DOG. GO! by Allison Gregory and Steven Dietz, actors' third week of rehearsal by Red Dog Dustin Bolt

Dustin and Fiona Dustin and Fiona
GO, DOG. GO! so far has been challenging, sweaty, painful, tiring, and
such a WONDERFUL time. I cannot express to you how much fun I am
having with this show. It has been challenging along the way. I
thought for sure, at first, that this was going to be a breeze. Think
again.  There is not a moment in this 50 minute show that you can let
your energy down. The title is, after all, GO, DOG. GO! and from the
moment we enter  with our scooters it is just that... We GO GO GO! We
do not stop until the last bow. I've lost nearly 10 lbs since we began
rehearsals November 10th.
Jerry, Cynthia, and Dave are continually pushing the cast
further and further, trying to make sure each choice we make is clear
and concise. I am so grateful for that because I know how much I am
growing because of it.  I know that if you were to pick one person and
watch them, and only them, for the entire show, you wouldn't miss a
beat. Each person has brought so much to the table and they are so
great to work with. I just want to point out a few moments that I
enjoy watching.

Colleen - I'm captivated from the moment you hand your ticket to the
house manager. The opener is so great!
Deena - You play a mad banjo.
Jay - Your first singing moment as Yellow Dog. Enough said.
Nathan -  Watching you cross the plank gets me every time.
Shannon - Every Hattie moment. But I look forward to the audience
reaction after the first one.

As you may have heard, this is SLAC's first show for children and what
a wonderful show it is! I am so excited that we are opening this week.
We get to finally perform for a house full of kids and for families!
My niece and nephews had the opportunity to come and watch a rehearsal
and my 22 month old niece was enthralled. It was so awesome to hear
her giggling in the audience (the nephews loved it too!). I heard that
as they went out for dinner afterward they kept chanting "Go, Go! Dog!
Go, Go, Dog!"

What a great activity for the whole family for the holidays! Hope
ya'll can make it!

Pictures look great. I'm sure the play is as well. Congrats to all. This is what children's theatre should be - something that takes a young (or old) person's imagination away with a good story, strong performances, great music and an eloquent and beautiful design, with all elements perfectly supporting each other.
