SATURDAY'S VOYEUR '11 Tenth Week of Performance | Actor John Rowland

Whoa!Good__Bad_News
Voyeur!
What a Summer!
I had been audience only once - in 2009 - and during that performance I thought, "I have to be in this show!"
I was surprised to be cast at all, and as I sat for a first read-through with the spectacular creative team I immediately thought, "I want to be in this show every year!"
By the caring hand of our Director we were encouraged to lovingly mold these amazing words and melodies into extended comedic riffs on our own absurd local political theatre.
After 3 + months of speaking, dancing, singing, acting, breathing and thinking Voyeur you'd think I would want a break, but by my second day away I just can't wait until 6:45 Wednesday night.
Part of that is because the patrons of Saturday's Voyeur are unlike any theatergoers I have ever met as a performer.
I rarely get opportunities to interact with a spectator beyond a handshake and congratulations but on Saturday, June 18th, I had the pleasure of bowling with my bowling team at a SLAC fundraiser then I was their designated driver and took them all out for drinks.
They've been coming to see Voyeur for seven years! And they are Voyeur babies!!
The die-hards – folks who have supported Nancy and Al for 30 + years – they bring their friends and kids and grandkids like it's a family reunion.
Strangers gathered to share a laugh about our home.
It is a sacred tradition and we dare not miss a year.
What an honor to continue that tradition amongst this cast and crew: the most supportive, funniest, caringest group of artists I have worked with.
I will dearly miss performing with this family, and I will see them at next year's reunion, one way or another.

SATURDAY'S VOYEUR  runs throughout the summer. Tickets available online or by calling the Box Office: 801.363.7522.
