STOP THE PRESSES! It's Jeanette's Blog! Crap, I knew it was coming but there's been so much going on.
I haven't even had time to read all the other blogs so that I could rule out what to write about, no one wants to read the same quippy blog twice.
This is my twelfth Saturday's Voyeur. I have endless stories to tell, but I'm just going to tell my story for this summer.
I just want to write a kind of thank you letter.
Many of you that will be reading this are aware that my mom, "Mother Mary" has been very ill this summer. Instead of my mom coming to visit me, I had to go home to Renton Washington to visit her.
This isn't what was supposed to happen. My mom was supposed to come and stay with me for a few weeks. She was supposed to see Voyeur twice. I was supposed to prepare her picnic basket. I may have even put in a half bottle of wine in it for her.
My mom loves Saturday's Voyeur! She's not from Utah, but she loves it. She some how got it. Besides being the mom of me and always being to proud of me and turning to people in the audience after they've shared their wine and cheese to say "that's my daughter", she just really loves Voyeur.
She loves it for some of the same reasons everyone else does; it's two plus hours of pure freedom. It's freedom from every day life. It's freedom from judgement. It's freedom to drink one more glass of wine than you should or eat that extra piece of cheese.
I am so grateful that my mom has been a part of my Voyeur experience these past twelve years. I am so grateful that my mom always encouraged my desire to be an actress. She has been there for almost every thing I've ever done. She and my dad (my other biggest fan) traveled many miles to see me perform throughout the years. I could not have asked for more supportive parents. Thank you mom and dad.
So, that's the first part of my thank you letter. The second part, is to thank everyone at the Salt Lake Acting Company and the entire cast and crew of Saturday's Voyeur for making it possible for me to, at a moments notice, go home to visit Mother Mary.
Not only did they "pass the hat" to collect some extra cash for my husband and I to help us out on our trip, but they literally changed their schedules, added rehearsals, found people to cover Annette's house managing shift so that she could go on stage for me...OH ANNETTE....Thank you to my long time friend and Voyeur Veteran, Annette Wright, for her professionalism and her ability to take over my role for a week at the drop of a hat. Thank you mostly Annette for saying, when Cynthia asked you if you'd cover for me, "Anything for Mother Mary".
I love you all, truly, I mean this, and my mom and I thank you.
SATURDAY'S VOYEUR runs throughout the summer. Tickets available online or by calling the Box Office: 801.363.7522.
