Sometimes, living in Salt Lake can make a person want to scream, constantly running into insane politicians and rules that make no sense and people who look at individuality like it's an alien species that has suddenly landed. Screaming, however, hurt your lungs. So why not sing about it?

Salt Lake Acting Company is giving people a chance to do just that with their upcoming Saturday's Voyeur 2012 auditions, coming Jan. 17 from 12 to 5 p.m. and Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Appointments are required to audition (call 801-363-7522 to get a 10-minute slot), and auditioners are asked to bring a headshot and a resume. An accompaniest will be provided, so bring the necessary sheet music. The show itself will run June 27 to Sept. 2, with a possible extension to Sept. 9, so if you're going to audition make sure you're free for that whole period of time.

Though "Saturday's Voyeur" includes lengthier roles – most often the parody of a politician who's done something particularly stupid the previous year – many of the roles are only for smaller comedy vignettes, often featuring original music. The theater asks that people prepare a song and a joke for the audition, and keeping the show's format (and highly political subject matter) in mind when you're making your choices is definitely not a bad idea.
